What kind of cutting fluid is used for aluminium alloy processing?

Release time:2019-02-28 Browse:21次

With the rise of modern mechanical manufacturing industries such as aviation, automobile industry, petrochemical industry and electronics, metal processing of aluminium alloys has become very common.

Compared with most steel and cast iron, the physical properties of aluminium alloy have many obvious characteristics: its strength and hardness are much higher than that of pure aluminium, but its strength and hardness are lower, its cutting force is smaller and its thermal conductivity is better than that of steel. Because of the soft and plasticity of aluminium alloy, it is easy to stick the cutter when cutting, forming chip-forming nodules on the cutter. In high-speed cutting, the welding phenomenon may occur on the cutter edge, which makes the cutter lose cutting ability, and affects the machining accuracy and surface roughness. In addition, the thermal expansion coefficient of aluminium alloy is large, and the cutting heat easily causes the thermal deformation of the workpiece and reduces the processing accuracy. The corrosion morphology of aluminium alloy is mainly surface discoloration and pitting corrosion. The surface of aluminium changes from brown to black, and large area of discoloration will not occur pitting corrosion. Pitting is a small and deep erosion, but sometimes pitting is interconnected to form large holes, precipitating white powder, commonly known as white rust.

Selection of cutting fluid for aluminium alloy processing:

In summary, the selection of cutting fluid for aluminium alloy processing is very important. It is necessary to ensure good lubricity, cooling, filtration and rust resistance. Therefore, the cutting fluid for aluminium alloy processing is different from ordinary cutting fluid, so it is necessary to select a suitable cutting fluid.

Different cutting fluids should be selected according to different requirements of processing conditions and accuracy. Because high-speed machining can produce a lot of heat, such as high-speed cutting, drilling and so on, if the heat generated can not be taken away by cutting fluid in time, there will be sticky knife phenomenon, even chip accumulation, which will seriously affect the workpiece processing roughness and tool life, while heat will also cause deformation of the workpiece, seriously affecting the accuracy of the workpiece. Therefore, the choice of cutting fluid should consider not only its lubricity, but also its cooling performance.
